Learning plus experience
Why a boat tour belongs on every Berlin class trip
Berlin class trips almost always include the Reichstag and Museum Island. Students often come away with plenty of facts but little sense of how the city fits together. A 60-minute Spree cruise between program points gives them an overview of Berlin's political center – the Reichstag, the Federal Chancellery, Bellevue Palace and Museum Island – from the water, with a live guide explaining along the way.
Teachers ride free, students pay less
Teachers and chaperones ride free. Students pay reduced fares, and for whole classes we offer a class rate on request. We are happy to issue one invoice with all the details your school needs.
Politics, history and architecture in 60 minutes
The live guide explains the Reichstag, the Federal Chancellery, the Paul-Löbe-Haus and Germany's political system in a way students can follow. Add East German history at the Tränenpalast and along the former border, plus architecture on Museum Island and at Berlin Cathedral – a natural link to civics, history and art lessons.
A live guide for students
The guide adapts to the group: politics for classes visiting the Bundestag, architecture for art courses, history for classes coming from the DDR Museum. A quick chat before the tour sets the focus.
Room for the whole class
A whole class fits on board, with seats in the covered salon or on the upper deck. Planning a trip with several classes at once? Talk to us and we will find the right solution.
Flexible dates
Class trips often run on tight schedules, so we do our best to make your preferred date work – even at short notice. In peak season (May to September), please ask early; outside the peak season, a week's notice is often enough.
Linked to the curriculum
What the live tour covers – and how it links to your lessons
On request, we send teachers a short topic overview in advance, so the boat tour can become part of your lessons. These topics are usually covered on class tours:
TOPIC 1
The Bundestag and the government district: how German politics works
TOPIC 2
The Federal Chancellery and Germany's political system
TOPIC 3
Bellevue Palace: the Federal President's official seat and role
TOPIC 4
The Tränenpalast and the former border in the city center: East German history
TOPIC 5
Museum Island: architecture and a UNESCO World Heritage Site
TOPIC 6
Berlin Cathedral: the Hohenzollerns and imperial architecture
TOPIC 7
Mühlendamm Lock: Berlin's waterways and how locks work
TOPIC 8
Weidendammer Brücke: Prussian symbols and the bridge's history
